Imágenes Multimodales en la Cirugía Refractiva

Abstract

La cirugía refractiva impulsó un extenso desarrollo, que condujo a una auténtica revolución en las tecnologías de la imagen. El concepto de imagen refractiva multimodal está relacionado con la aplicación de diferentes técnicas para reunir información sobre el estado del paciente con el objetivo final de mejorar tanto la seguridad como la eficiencia de los procedimientos refractivos. El enfoque multimodal abarca desde la biomicroscopía digital, la evaluación de la película lagrimal y la superficie ocular, hasta la topografía corneal computarizada con disco de Plácido, la tomografía 3D Scheimpflug, la tomografía segmentaria con espesor epitelial en capas utilizando OCT (tomografía de coherencia óptica) y ultrasonido de muy alta frecuencia (VHF-US). También incluye la evaluación biomecánica de la córnea, el frente de onda ocular, las mediciones de la longitud axial y la microscopía corneal confocal/especular. En este artículo, revisamos prospectivamente tales enfoques con las aplicaciones clínicas más significativas en la cirugía refractiva.
